Woolly hedgenettle, also known as lamb's ear, is a perennial with unique foliage and easy to cultivate. Its silvery-gray, hairy leaves are incredibly soft. Stroking them feels like touching the ears of a lamb or rabbit. It's a particularly interesting plant to grow with children! Leaves are present all year round and plants can reach 60 cm in height. It is native to Turkey and Armenia.
Needs and requirements
Woolly hedgenettle is a perennial that thrives in sunny, dry locations. It thrives in all types of soil. It is extremely frost-resistant and can be reseeded.
How to grow
To grow woolly hedgenettle, sow seeds in seed pots from mid-April to mid-June to a depth of 0.5 cm. The ideal germination temperature is between 15°C and 25°C. Six weeks after sowing, plant the young plants in the ground or in pots, leaving 30 cm between each plant.
