The Swiss chard "Golden heart" is a variety that stands out for its bright yellow ribs, adding a touch of color to your vegetable garden. The slightly earthy taste of the ribs is excellent for gratins. The green leaves are also edible and can be used in the same way as spinach or kale. It is also rich in nutrients, including vitamins A and C, iron and fiber. Harvesting takes place from late July to late April. Plants can reach 60 cm in height at harvest.
Sow from April to July either directly into the garden bed at 40 cm spacing between rows or transplant seedlings from a starter tray. Thin out direct seedlings to 40 cm spacing within rows also. Harvest by continuously breaking off outer leaves. Leave the central leaves of new growth to continue growing. Let those keep growing to increase your yield.
