Wild bees and solitary wasps play a crucial role in the pollination of plants and thus secure a large part of our food. Unfortunately, their habitats, nesting sites and food sources are becoming increasingly scarce. Hanging insect nesting boxes can provide them with an important habitat and support these important pollinators, even in small areas. Wild bees usually live alone and pose no threat to humans.
Mounting : the ideal installation period is between March and May, so that the tubes can still be colonized. The hexagonal module can be screwed to any wall using the screw and metal plate provided.
Placement : Ideally, choose a dry, sunny and wind-protected location, facing south-east, about 50 cm above the ground. The modules can be mounted either directly on the wall or on a board, which is then hung on a post or tree.
Maintenance: used tubes can be replaced in winter. If tubes are sealed, then this implies that they are inhabited. Young wild bees hatch the following spring. Sealed tubes will simply be put back in place.
For protection and longevity, the exterior of the module is treated with linseed oil.
