The Mustard 'Red Giant' is an Asian vegetable with large, dark purple leaves.
They are slightly spicy and excellent eaten raw in salads or pan-fried. They can also be mixed with other leafy vegetables to create your own Mesclun salad.
Leaves are harvested 45 days after sowing. Several harvests are possible. The plant reaches a height of 20 cm at harvest and is suitable for growing in pots.
Mustard has moderate requirements in terms of fertilization, water and sunshine. It grows well in all types of soil.
Sow seeds in March-April or July-August in the open ground to a depth of 0.5 cm. Seeds germinate within 10 days. Space rows 20 cm apart, leaving 1 cm between each seed on the row.
To harvest several times, cut 5 cm above the heart of the plants, so that they can grow back.
